Rising Kenyan Afropop artist Keemlyf is poised to unveil his latest single, “On The Low,” this Friday, May 23, 2025. This marks his second release under Universal Music Group East Africa (UMG EA), following his debut track “Outside.”
Produced by the acclaimed Vic West, “On The Low” delves into the intricacies of secret relationships, exploring themes of intimacy, privacy, and the delicate balance between secrecy and openness. Keemlyf describes the track as a reflection on relationships that thrive away from the public eye, emphasizing the authenticity and depth of such connections.
“OTL (short for On The Low) is about having that one person in your life who means something real to you, but for whatever reason—timing, situations, or privacy—you keep it under wraps. It’s that secret connection, the late-night convos, the moments no one sees but still hit deep. It’s raw, personal, and speaks to a reality a lot of people live but don’t talk about,” Keemlyf shared in a recent interview.
The song is characterized by its sultry melodies and evocative lyrics, capturing the essence of clandestine love affairs. Keemlyf's vocal delivery, combined with Vic West's production, creates a compelling narrative that resonates with listeners who have experienced similar situations.
“I was in a space where I was reflecting on past relationships and the blurred lines between privacy and secrecy. OTL came from a real place—thinking about a girl I had that nobody really knew about, but who still held a piece of me. It wasn’t about hiding out of shame—it was about protecting something that felt too fragile for the world,” Keemlyf added.
Fans can anticipate the release of “On The Low” across all major streaming platforms this Friday. The track is expected to further solidify Keemlyf's position in the East African music scene and beyond.
