As anticipation builds for the 2025 BET Awards, BET Africa, in collaboration with Durban Tourism, is set to honor South Africa's top musical talents with exclusive celebration events. These gatherings aim to spotlight the country's nominees before they head to Los Angeles for the prestigious ceremony on June 9.
The festivities will kick off in Durban on Thursday, May 22, at LIV Durban, followed by a Johannesburg celebration at LIV Sandton on Thursday, May 29. These events are open to the public, offering fans a chance to show their support for the artists representing South Africa on the global stage.
Notable South African nominees for this year's BET Awards include international stars Tyla and DJ Uncle Waffles, both nominated for Best International Act. Emerging talents Maglera Doe Boy, TxC, and Dlala Thukzin have earned nominations in the Best New International Act category, reflecting the country's rich and diverse musical landscape.
In addition to the celebrations, BET Africa and Durban Tourism have launched a social media competition, offering two international fans an all-expenses-paid trip to experience the sights and sounds of Durban. The winners' journey will be featured in a special 22-minute segment airing on BET Africa later this year.
Monde Twala, Senior Vice President and Co-General Manager of Paramount Africa and lead of BET International, expressed enthusiasm for the initiative:
> "This exciting partnership with Durban Tourism allows us to honour and spotlight the immense talent coming out of South Africa. The BET Awards celebration parties will highlight cultural pride, artistic excellence, and the vibrant spirit of Durban and South Africa as a whole."

The 2025 BET Awards will be broadcast live from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Tuesday, June 10, at 2:00 AM SAST on BET Africa (DStv channel 129).
