GRAMMY-winning Nigerian singer, songwriter, and producer Tems has unveiled the Lead The Vibe Initiative, a pioneering mentorship program aimed at uplifting and empowering women in music across Africa .
The initiative addresses a persistent gender disparity—globally only about 22% of artists, 12.8% of songwriters, and a mere 3% of music producers are women . Through hands-on workshops, masterclasses, and panel discussions, participants will gain access to industry insights, tools, and networks, fostering their creative and professional growth .
The inaugural edition is slated for August 8–9 in Lagos, and is open to female artists, songwriters, and producers aged 18–35 based in Nigeria. Selected participants will benefit from mentorship from seasoned industry professionals, immersive studio sessions, and access to production software provided by tech partner Native Instruments . Applications close on July 13, 2025 .
“My goal with the Leading Vibe Initiative is to help discover and support talented young women who have the potential to redefine the industry,” Tems shared
This first-of-its-kind platform in West Africa aims not just to support talent in Lagos but to expand across Africa and globally, offering a much-needed space for female creatives and music professionals to hone their abilities and amplify their voices.
