In a groundbreaking collaboration, Bridges for Music and Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) Las Vegas have unveiled the Ubuntu stage—a dedicated platform celebrating African dance music and its global influence. Set within the Nomadsland area of the festival grounds, this new addition marks a significant moment for African electronic music on the world stage.
Named after the African philosophy of "Ubuntu," which emphasizes interconnectedness and shared humanity, the stage aims to foster cross-cultural collaboration and community through music.
The three-day showcase, running from May 16 to 18, features performances by high-profile artists such as South Africa’s DJ Lag, Da Capo, and Kasango, alongside eSwatini’s Uncle Waffles, Nigerian producer Sarz, and Zambian talent Kilimanjaro.
Valentino Barrioseta, Founder of Bridges for Music, emphasized the broader impact of this initiative: “This partnership between EDC and Bridges for Music is more than music; it’s about impact and community, and the ripple effects will be felt far away from Las Vegas, on a grassroots level.”
The Ubuntu stage not only showcases a fresh blend of established and emerging African DJs but also serves as a testament to the transformative power of music in bridging cultures and communities.
