After a brief but intentional break from the spotlight, Nigerian award-winning singer and songwriter Tems is officially back and ready to own 2025.
Earlier today, the globally celebrated Afro-soul artist announced the release of her highly anticipated single titled “Rush Hour,” which is scheduled to drop this Friday, May 16. This marks her first solo release of the year and is already generating major buzz across social media platforms and streaming services.
Tems, known for her genre-defying style and soulful voice, also revealed that her next full-length album will arrive in July 2025. The project is expected to blend Afrobeats, soul, R&B, and experimental sounds, reflecting her personal and artistic evolution since her breakout in 2020.
“I’ve taken time to live, reflect, and create music that’s honest to my journey. ‘Rush Hour’ is just the beginning,” Tems wrote in a heartfelt Instagram post.
Shot in Ghana and South Africa
Sources confirm that visuals for the upcoming single and album were filmed across Ghana and South Africa, showcasing rich cultural elements, landscapes, and vibrant Black aesthetics. Tems is said to have worked with African and international creatives to bring a unique visual experience that matches her sonic experimentation.
Fans are already counting down, with #TemsRushHour trending on X (formerly Twitter) and TikTok. Influencers, DJs, and music bloggers have also begun previewing snippets and teaser photos, further fueling anticipation.
