Nikita Kering wins Best Female Artist at the East Africa Music Awards.

Kenyan vocal powerhouse Nikita Kering has officially been named Best Female Artist at the 2025 East Africa Music Awards (EAMAs), solidifying her status as one of the region’s most powerful and consistent voices.
The star-studded ceremony took place in Kigali, Rwanda over the weekend, bringing together top acts from Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, and beyond. Nikita, 22, stunned on the red carpet before taking the stage to accept her award, dedicating the win to “every young girl chasing her voice and her dreams.”
The award recognizes a phenomenal year for Nikita, highlighted by her breakout hit “Last Name”, her successful EP “The Other Side”, and her commanding live performances that earned her a growing international fanbase.
In her acceptance speech, she said: “This is for every Kenyan girl who thought she couldn’t make it. Music is my truth, and I’m honored to share it with East Africa and the world.”
Nikita beat out tough competition, including Uganda’s Azawi, Tanzania’s Nandy, and Rwanda’s Alyn Sano, making this win even more significant for Kenyan music.
Fans and fellow artists flooded social media with congratulatory messages, with many calling her “the voice of a generation.”
