The 2026 FIFA World Cup™ officially kicked off in spectacular fashion, and the atmosphere was nothing short of electric! On Thursday, June 11, 2026, all eyes were on the historic Estadio Azteca in Mexico City as global superstars Shakira and Burna Boy took center stage for a performance that has already become the talk of the tournament.

The duo delivered the world premiere of "Dai Dai," the official song of the 2026 FIFA World Cup™. With a fusion of reggaeton, Afrobeats, and pop, the track set the perfect tone for a tournament that promises to be the largest and most inclusive in history.

A Night to Remember

The ceremony was a feast for the senses, featuring:

Stunning Visuals: Dancers performed around a giant model of the World Cup trophy, accompanied by dazzling pyrotechnics that illuminated the 80,000-capacity stadium.

Star-Studded Lineup: Beyond the headline performance, the audience was treated to appearances by other acclaimed artists, including J Balvin and legendary Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli.

A Cultural Celebration: The show celebrated the rich football heritage of Mexico, providing a vibrant curtain-raiser for the opening match between co-hosts Mexico and South Africa.

More Than Just a Song

"Dai Dai" is more than just an anthem—it is a movement. The song supports the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, an initiative dedicated to raising $100 million by the end of the tournament to provide children worldwide with access to quality education and football opportunities.

The energy inside the stadium was electric, marking a bold start to the 48-team tournament that will span across Mexico, the United States, and Canada. As Shakira and Burna Boy left the stage, the message was clear: the world has come together for a month-long celebration of football, culture, and unity.
