Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, globally known as Davido, has once again set social media ablaze with a mind-boggling confession about his personal finances. During a recent Twitch livestream with popular content creator Davrel, the "Unavailable" singer revealed that when he is in Nigeria, his monthly personal expenses easily reach between $200,000 and $300,000.
And the kicker? That eye-watering sum doesn't even cover his biggest bills.
The Breakdown: What’s Covered (and What Isn't)
To put things in perspective, $300,000 translates to roughly ₦450 million+ Naira per month, depending on the exchange rate. Davido clarified that this budget is strictly for his day-to-day lifestyle and "balling" while in his home country.
He was quick to point out that this massive monthly budget excludes:
- His wife, Chioma’s, expenses (which he says are handled separately).
- Major household bills and estate upkeep.
- Big-ticket luxury purchases like new jewelry or sports cars.
"I can't tell you how much, but I can tell you like 300. Normally, probably like 200 to 300... This is minus my wife and the house... that one is closed. Minus buying jewelry or buying car." — Davido
Why is Nigeria So Much More Expensive for Him?
DAVIDO
One of the most interesting takeaways from the livestream was Davido’s comparison of his lifestyle in Nigeria versus the United States (which he affectionately calls "Yankee").
According to the singer, living abroad is actually much cheaper because of his simplified social structure there.

"I actually spend less in Yankee because I live with just me, my wife and my kids," Davido explained. "When I'm around [in Nigeria], I spend a lot more. We are balling every day."
The Heavy Cost of Fame
While the numbers are staggering to the average person, they highlight the immense financial ecosystem that surrounds a top-tier Afrobeats artist in Nigeria. From maintaining a massive entourage (often called the 30BG or 30 Billion Gang) to funding local security, hosting associates, and philanthropy, "being Davido" in Lagos is a highly expensive operation.
Interestingly, the singer also made headlines recently by discussing the darker side of this lifestyle. He shared plans to build a mental health therapy center dedicated to former celebrities who have struggled to cope with the immense pressure and the eventual loss of fame and wealth. It seems that while he is enjoying his success today, he remains deeply aware of the volatile nature of the spotlight.
What do you think of Davido's monthly budget? Is it the price of ultimate stardom, or is it simply "too much balling"?
