JOHANNESBURG — South African global pop star Tyla has personally cleared the air regarding intense online speculation that she had parted ways with her longtime record label, Epic Records, to sign a multi-million dollar global deal with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation.
Taking to Instagram, the 24-year-old Grammy winner put a swift end to days of rampant social media theories with a simple, direct post on her Stories:
"I'm not signed to Roc Nation."
How the Rumor Took Over the Internet
The frenzy kicked off on June 30, 2026, when several viral posts on X (formerly Twitter) claimed Tyla's contract with Epic Records had expired and that Roc Nation had successfully intercepted the pop star.
The speculation exploded into belief after a highly realistic, doctored image began circulating. The fake photo depicted a massive digital billboard in New York City's Times Square featuring Roc Nation’s signature triangle hand gesture alongside the text "Roc Nation welcomes Tyla."
Despite several prominent blogs and even international music publications reporting the "signing" as fact over the weekend, no official press release or contract confirmation was ever issued by either camp—prompting Tyla to step in and shut down the noise herself.
Full Steam Ahead for A*Pop
With the industry rumors put to rest, Tyla's focus remains entirely on the rollout for her highly anticipated sophomore studio album, A*Pop.
The project is officially locked in for a global release on July 24, 2026, distributed through her established home at FAX Records and Epic Records.
A*Pop has already built major momentum over the last few months following a string of successful singles. The album's second single, "She Did It Again" featuring Swedish pop star Zara Larsson, became an instant cross-border hit in April, followed by the mid-June arrival of her latest R&B-infused track, "Is It Love". Tyla also recently made headlines performing alongside Future at a massive sports opening ceremony in Los Angeles, keeping her firmly planted at the center of the global music landscape.
Fans can expect A*Pop to land on all major streaming platforms on July 24.
