Ugandan Music Awards announce nominations; Sheebah, Azawi, and Pallaso lead the pack.

The 2025 Ugandan Music Awards (UMAs) have officially released their nomination list—and it's a star-studded showdown led by fan favorites Sheebah Karungi, Azawi, and Pallaso, who dominate the top categories this year.
In a highly anticipated announcement streamed live from Kampala, organizers revealed nominees across more than 20 categories, celebrating the best of Ugandan music talent over the past year.
Sheebah, a consistent force in Uganda’s pop scene, secured nods for Artist of the Year, Best Female Artist, and Best Collaboration for her hit single "Only Girl" featuring King Saha.
Azawi, the soulful voice behind “Ten Over Ten” and “Omwenge”, also landed multiple nominations including Best Album, Song of the Year, and Best Afro-Pop Artist—proving her versatility and continued dominance.
Meanwhile, Pallaso, fresh off a regional tour, is up for Best Male Artist, Song of the Year, and Best Live Performer, following the massive success of his track “Nalonda Nemala.”
Other notable nominees include Eddy Kenzo, Spice Diana, Joshua Baraka, and newcomer Kezia Lydia, who earned a surprise Best New Artist nomination.
Public voting for select categories opens this weekend via the official UMA website and SMS, with the live awards ceremony scheduled for August 9th, 2025 in Kampala.
