OUT TODAY across all major streaming platforms.

For many people, the journey to the diaspora represents hope—a chance to work hard, support family, and build a better future. But for Isaayboo, that journey came with a heartbreaking price.

His new single, “Where You Dey,” is a deeply personal tribute born out of loss, love, and one of the most painful conversations a child can ever experience with a parent.

After travelling abroad with the hope of earning a living and making something meaningful out of his life, Isaayboo spent three difficult years struggling to survive. Then came the call no one wants to receive: his mother was critically ill.

The news immediately changed everything.

After several anxious days in the hospital, his mother eventually became stable. In those moments, she reassured her son, promising him that she would not die and that when he returned, he would meet her alive. Those words became a source of hope for Isaayboo as he continued to hold on from afar.

But life had another plan.

The call came again.

This time, the message was not about recovery. It was about death.

His mother was gone.

The promise that she would be alive when he returned had become a painful memory.

“Where You Dey” is Isaayboo’s musical response to that loss. It is more than a song—it is a conversation that continues even after death. Through the record, Isaayboo revisits the emotions, memories, and final conversations he shared with his mother, asking the question that naturally comes with losing someone you love: “Where you dey?”

The song captures the pain of being thousands of miles away when someone you love is fighting for their life. It speaks to the reality faced by many in the diaspora who leave home in search of survival and opportunity, sometimes missing moments they can never get back.

At its heart, “Where You Dey” is not simply about death. It is about a mother’s love, a son’s sacrifice, an unfinished conversation, and the unbearable reality of returning home too late.

Isaayboo transforms his personal grief into a story many listeners can relate to. For anyone who has lost a parent, a loved one, or someone they desperately wished they could have seen one last time, the song is likely to feel deeply familiar.

With “Where You Dey,” Isaayboo does not try to hide the pain. He puts it into music.

And perhaps, through every word and melody, he is still speaking to his mother, still holding on to that final promise, still remembering her voice, and still asking the question that may never have an answer:

Where you dey?
