Ugandan breakout artist Joshua Baraka is making waves across the continent as his latest single “Nana” goes viral on TikTok, catapulting him into the spotlight as one of East Africa’s fastest-rising stars.
The smooth Afro-R&B track, which blends soulful vocals with a rhythmic groove, has inspired thousands of user-generated videos across TikTok, with creators from Uganda, Kenya, Nigeria, and beyond vibing to its catchy hook and romantic lyrics. The #NanaChallenge has already surpassed 1.2 million views, making it one of the most talked-about African songs on the platform this month.
Joshua, who first caught attention with his earlier singles “Ndoa” and “Eeny Meeny”, has been steadily building a loyal fanbase, but “Nana” marks a turning point in his career, earning him international attention and playlist placements on Apple Music and Spotify’s top African charts.
