Eddy Kenzo Honoured by Ugandan Parliament for Elevating Nation’s Music Globally

Ugandan music icon Eddy Kenzo has been officially honoured by the Parliament of Uganda for his outstanding contributions to the nation’s music industry and his role in elevating Ugandan culture on the global stage.
In a special session held yesterday, Members of Parliament presented Kenzo with a Certificate of Recognition, praising his musical achievements, cultural advocacy, and philanthropic efforts that have made Uganda proud internationally.
The recognition follows years of groundbreaking success for the artist, who became the first Ugandan to receive a BET Award in 2015 and has since toured the world, collaborated with international stars, and founded the Eddy Kenzo Foundation to uplift youth through music and education.
Speaking before the assembly, MP Sarah Kiyingi remarked:
> “Eddy Kenzo is not just an artist. He is a cultural ambassador. His music carries the soul of Uganda to places many of us may never reach. He deserves every bit of this national honour.”

Following the ceremony, an emotional Kenzo took to his social media platforms to thank Parliament, his fans, and the Ugandan people:
> “This is for every dreamer, every artist coming up from the trenches. Uganda to the world is not a slogan — it’s a mission. I am honoured to represent my country.”

He also expressed his commitment to continue mentoring young talent and investing in platforms that promote Ugandan music and identity.
Kenzo’s latest album, “Blessings Reloaded,” has been performing strongly across East Africa and in diaspora communities, further proving his global reach and longevity in the industry.
Fans, celebrities, and fellow musicians across the region have flooded social media with congratulations, using the hashtag #KenzoHonoured to celebrate the moment.
This historic recognition cements Eddy Kenzo’s legacy as not only one of Uganda’s most celebrated musicians but also a cultural icon shaping the next chapter of African music history.
