CHART REVOLUTION: EIIAFRICA Expands to the Official Top 50

A historic week as Wizkid & Asake maintain their 'Turbulence' at the top, while the chart grows to capture the full breadth of the African sound.

By EIIAFRICA Editorial Team | SATURDAY , February 23, 2026

This week marks a landmark moment for EIIAFRICA. In response to the explosive growth of the sound and the sheer volume of high-quality releases hitting the continent, we have officially expanded our rankings from the Top 20 to the Official Top 50.

This expansion allows us to highlight not just the superstars, but the rising architects of the next wave. Here is the breakdown of the most significant moves for the week ending February 21, 2026.

1. The ‘Turbulence’ Continues at #1

For the third consecutive week, Wizkid and Asake hold the iron throne with "Turbulence." Despite heavy competition from Davido and Omah Lay’s "With You" (#2), the Starboy-Lungu Boy synergy remains untouchable. The track's dominance is backed by record-breaking streaming numbers across West Africa and the UK.

2. Sopheeaa’s Meteoric Rise (#19)

One of the most talked-about entries this week is Sopheeaa, whose hit single "Mind" has landed firmly at #19. Labeled as our "Trend of the Week," Sopheeaa is bridging the gap between soulful R&B and Afrobeats rhythm. Her position in the Top 20—despite the chart now being 50 tracks deep—proves she is a force to be reckoned with.

3. The Ghana Wave: Kwesi Arthur & Stonebwoy

The expansion to 50 spots has allowed the vibrant Ghanaian scene to shine. Kwesi Arthur makes a double impact with "Yawa (Hosanna)" (#22) and "Drama" (#25), while Stonebwoy’s "Silent Samurai" (#24) shows the enduring power of Afro-dancehall.

4. The "Long-Tail" Effect

In the 30–50 range, we see the true "architecture" of the genre. From Black Sherif’s soulful "Sacrifice" (#34) to the global resilience of Tyla’s "Water" (#46), these spots prove that African music no longer "disappears" after a few weeks; it stays in the hearts and playlists of the fans.

📊 BY THE NUMBERS: THIS WEEK'S TOP 50

• Highest Debut: Sopheeaa – "Mind" (#19)

• Most Entries by Artist: Wizkid (5 tracks)

• Biggest Gainer: Godwin – "African Queen (Remix)" (+7 spots)
