One of the largest and most vibrant multicultural festivals in the United States, Carnaval San Francisco, is set to return for its 47th annual celebration on May 24–25, 2025. Held in the heart of the city’s Mission District, this year’s festival carries a powerful and unifying theme: “AfroMundo: African Diaspora in the Americas.”
The 2025 edition of Carnaval San Francisco will honor the deep cultural impact and artistic contributions of the African diaspora across the Americas, highlighting the connections between African roots and Latin American expression through music, dance, fashion, and visual art.
Festivalgoers can look forward to an electrifying lineup of performances, including Cuban sensation Wampi and renowned Mexican DJ Camilo Lara, known for his Afro-Latin fusion sets. The highlight of the weekend will be the grand parade, featuring over 70 dynamic contingents, showcasing colorful costumes, traditional dances, and rhythmic beats from diverse cultures influenced by African heritage.
With food vendors, family activities, and live art installations, Carnaval San Francisco 2025 promises an immersive experience that celebrates identity, resistance, resilience, and joy across the African diaspora.
